Hi, Iām Sharon.
I am an Independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My journey to earning this license started in Middle School for me. As a high achieving pre-teen I found that the pressure to succeed could quickly become overwhelming and that it was difficult to find my place socially as a mixed race person. This continued into high school where I found that while I wanted help in managing this anxiety and overwhelm, help was not always easily found. This led me to decide early on that I wanted to be someone who could understand, listen to, and support young people going through the stresses of life.
I have spent the last 10 years doing just that. My experience working in schools, community mental health, and transitional aged youth services further cemented my commitment and experience working with teens, young adults, and their parents. It also highlighted to me how hard change, whether positive or negative, can be and how we can all use some extra support while maneuvering through life's challenges. In therapy I can help you to explore the factors that may be contributing to your struggles, learn to identify how these may be showing up for you in your thoughts and actions, and how this may be affecting your relationships and overall satisfaction with life.
To do this work I utilize several different treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I have experience treating teens, adults, and families struggling with anxiety, depression, maneuvering life changes, struggles in relationship to self and others, and a variety of other diagnoses. I am an lgbtqia+ affirming provider and aim to always provide a safe and culturally competent space for you to explore, learn, and heal.
I look forward to working with you!
